California

If you live in California, you may be able to reduce what you owe to the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB), which is a part of the California Government Operations Agency. The FTB is responsible for administering the Homeowner and Renter Assistance program and collecting personal and business income taxes in California. They also collect child support liability, tax penalties and vehicle registration delinquencies.

Florida

Like all states, Florida requires residents to pay certain taxes. While these individuals don’t owe personal income tax, the State of Florida does collect sales, use, intangible and corporate income taxes. Also, individual counties in this state receive much of their funding through property taxes, which vary by county and the property’s value. In some cases, however, you may be able to benefit from tax exemptions that reduce how much you owe.

New York

There are ways you can reduce your tax liability or receive a refund in New York — one way is through the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). This New York tax relief program can make paying for your taxes easier if you earn a low- to moderate-income and meet other eligibility requirements.

Texas

While there is no individual income tax in Texas, there are other types of taxes, like property tax, that can quickly start to add up.

Luckily, there are ways for residents and business owners to reduce their tax liabilities. Here at BC Tax, we have a team of professionals ready to work with you and help you determine which relief programs you qualify for. When you choose us, we’ll make sure you have access to the information you need to minimize how much you’re taxed.

Pennsylvania

We understand what you’re going through and offer a variety of solutions for tax debt and similar issues, whether you’re filing for yourself or your business. Our services cover both state and federal taxes, and as we work together, we’ll help you discover the secrets to filing your Pennsylvania taxes correctly every time.

Illinois

Residing in Illinois brings the privilege of a rich history and diverse culture. It also comes with responsibilities, one of which is tax compliance. The State of Illinois is mindful of local taxpayers’ challenges — hence, it proudly offered one-time individual income and property tax rebates under the Illinois Family Relief Plan in 2022.

Ohio

Paying federal and state taxes is an annual obligation for most Ohio residents. Fortunately, the state offers several programs that can alleviate the tax burden. Even so, situations like job losses, underestimating amounts owed, divorce and other unexpected life circumstances can cause taxpayers to fall behind.

North Carolina

Situated in the southeastern portion of the United States, North Carolina offers everything from stunning mountain peaks to serene beaches, making it the perfect place to call home. Living and working in North Carolina, just like any other state, comes with some tax-paying responsibilities.  At BC Tax, our team of professionals is here to help you navigate North Carolina’s tax relief programs and determine which ones you may qualify for.

Georgia

Residents of the Peach State are required to pay state taxes for individual and corporate income. However, there are some laws that assist taxpayers, like the Georgia State Income Tax Cut of 2022, along with other tax refunds.

State Taxing Authorities

Navigating the complex world of state tax laws can be a daunting task for any business or individual. With different tax laws and regulations in each state, it can be challenging to stay up to date and compliant. At our firm, we understand the importance of staying current on state tax laws and regulations. Important Distinction: Tax Consultant vs. Attorney Representation

I want to clarify both the timeline and why this experience remains relevant today.

My issue with BC Tax occurred approximately five months ago. While that period has passed, the actions taken by the non-attorney tax consultant assigned to my case continue to surface in my current interactions, despite my account now being handled successfully and professionally by an attorney-led tax firm.

This is why the experience remains concerning.

When I made the decision to disengage from BC Tax due to the consultant’s conduct, she immediately contacted the taxing authority in a disparaging manner upon withdrawing her power of attorney. That action created a narrative and paper trail that has followed my case forward—long after I moved on and secured proper legal representation.

This highlights an important distinction consumers should understand:

BC Tax is a tax consulting firm, not a law firm.
The individuals handling cases are tax consultants, not licensed attorneys.

That distinction matters.

• Tax consultants are not held to the same ethical, legal, or professional standards as attorneys
• They do not operate under attorney licensing boards or legal codes of conduct
• Their actions can still materially affect a taxpayer’s case, even after the relationship ends

To be fair and accurate:
The owner, Mr. Barr, was kind, and Mr. Herr, whom I initially spoke with, was professional and helpful. Unfortunately, the consultant ultimately assigned to my case undermined that initial experience and created lasting complications.

I am now working with an attorney-led tax firm, where my matter is being handled with professionalism, discretion, and results—without volatility or retaliation.

I am sharing this review so others can make fully informed decisions. When dealing with serious tax matters, representation matters, and there is a meaningful difference between working with a tax consultant and working with licensed attorneys.

Amanda Lira and her team at BC Tax really performed very well for us. After struggling to recover a tax refund for more than two years, Amanda got it done in less than 6 months. Highly recommend Amanda!

I came to BC Tax after nearly two years of angst with my former CPA and his inability to work with the IRS and get my taxes done in a timely manner and an audit closed. I was hesitant to go with BC Tax as I had not heard of them, however, after speaking with Corrinda I decided to go with them. Corrinda was wonderful, responsive and worked with the IRS to remove a late filing penalty due to my former CPA's lack of timeliness. She and Margaret responded to my emails and answered all of my questions. I would definitely recommend them to anyone struggling to work with the IRS to get an audit completed. D. Walton
